Yes under high RPMs, used case's and even with the new aluminum case's it easier for your pump to suck air between the case and the pump than to lift and suck the oil from the pick up tube. This is a big problem with aluminum case's, do to the heat expansion. The "O-Ring" takes up that space and seals up against the case for a real snug seal. All of our pumps are set at the correct .004" pump to cover clearance for maxmum oil pressure. Yes when you order a pump from some other shop they don't even take them out of the box!
