Now with a fiberglass front end, 6" slicks and a little more risky on the RPMs (7,000 with stock crank) the car was able to run a best 14.02 at 92.9 mph in Sacramento placed 3rd.The best i was able to get at Carlsbad was a 14.12 at 91.00 mph. In vegas i brokeout and ran a 15.13 on a 15.18.with no plans on going to the last VW race of the season in Arizona.I started thinking about LOW BUGGET and what to do with it.I had big plans for my car but on a shoe-string bugget. But i had some extra time over the holidays and if a man has extra time watch out! |
Page #3 of 3 for you..oo..... !! |
With big dreams and limited funds the best thing i could do was paint the car. Now with fiberglass rear fenders and apron (Pomona swap meet) plus some cutting of the rear so the motor can be removed whole (those big Kadrons). LOW BUGGET was starting to take shape. for pictures click here |

Got a flyer from Jon at Top Line that DKP was going to hold a drag day at Carlsbad on May 8th.The best part was that Der Transaxle was puting up $100 to the fastest Kadron powered car.So i threw the old windows in and put on some stickers that i had laying around and i was on my way. The first pass was 13.92 at 92.00mph. At the request of my girlfriend, i had to see what the car had in it This is how the last pas with the 1641 whent. At 7,200rpm's I side steped the clutch, slid my right foot off the brake and crushed the roller pedal as hard as I could ( yes I dont use the e-brake it broke some years ago I just put have my foot on the brake and have on the gas). I hit each gear just as hard shifting at 7,400rpm's. All with a stock 4.12 gear box and not using 4th I ran a best of 13.79 at 93.00 mph with out blowing something. Click here for more on DKP events. Made me $100 that day. "Thanks to Jim Kaforski at Der Transaxle"("plug"!!) |
